Getting the Wheeling Fever
Anybody know how to fix this?

My Emergency Brake light turns on when I am accelerating in first and second gear. It is worse when it is cold out.

Thanks,

Rich

Top off your brake fluid reservoir.

I know it sounds funny, but check and make sure your alternator belt isn't slipping. If the alternator has charging trouble, it flags both the brake and charge lights.
If the thing looks glazed, I'd swap 'er out.

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.

my brake light comes on once in awhile while driving just because my parking brake system is a bit f'ed up (one bellcrank is frozen and the cables seem a bit stretched), so it doesn't have enough tension to hold the brake lever all the way in.

so, if i shift too hard or hit a bump too hard, the brake lever sometimes pulls itself out a bit and causes the light to come on. i just push it back in (or hit another bump), and the light goes off.

not exactly the same symptoms you have, but easy to check.

yeah check the alternator, mine e-brake light would come on too when accelerating and stuff and the charge light, and i replaced the alternator and it doesnt do it anymore.

Do you have snow/ice built up under the truck? I've had occasionally in the past where the ebrake light would come on under the conditions you stated and it was just cause the cable was jamming up in the snow/ice and the handle would slide back causing the light to come on.

As said,
a) top off fluid,
b) replace cap
You did a), now do b). I worked on my rear axle bearings the other night and lost some brake fluid (not much), leading to exactly the symptoms you describe. In my case a) worked.
