Need a Spot
First off, thanx to those who replied to my queries about exhaust systems and such - this is a great group of people.

Anyway, as I am looking around and going thru the archives....

I was wondering if anyone has done a 1 or 2 inch lift on their '95 3.0 4Runner 4X4 auto - and what suprises I might expect to run into.

Decided to go this route before I kick on some headers and exhaust work.

Thanks in advance

I did a write up of my 1" bodylift install on my mods page. Install was pretty straightforward. If you are getting Roger Brown's bodylift kit, you will have to redrill the OEM bodymounts to fit the bolts and redrill 2 holes on the front bumper. Other than that you won't have to touch anything. I left my steering and auto tranny linkage untouched and never had any problems with it. It took me 4 hours to do it, read the instructions thouroughly before you do it. Hope that helps.

I have a link to Leo's installtion writeup here.

Also did Roger's 1" BL last weekend but had to loosen the steering clamp since the steering tilt had a little bit of binding. Just like what Roger said, he now sells an exact fit hardware bolts without redrilling the white pucks. You need to reuse all the factory washers. The front bumper hole (outer one) had to be angle grind a bit (about 1/2 the size of a dime) inorder for it to have a better fit since it looked a bit cantilevered. Also didnt touch my auto tranny but checked anything that might bind such as radiator hoses, gas filer hoses, power steering.

After seeing Leo's write-up, I too used one of Roger's kits on my 95. I did not touch a thing other than the body mounts and ended up breaking the bumper mount, so be careful with that. I also did not have the heavy duty hardware, so the extra drilling was avoided.

Good luck,
Adrian

My own stupidity. I thought I had hit them hard enough with the PB Blaster, went to wrench on it and it let go. It just sped up the ARB bumper time line.

The kit was great, but the installer's quality was a little suspect.

Yes, soaking down parts for a week or so ahead of the installation can help with rust. Probably the hardest part of the install is the disassembly of the current parts.

Roll Me Over
I just wanted to say that I have installed 2 body lifts on other peoples trucks. One was a Performance Accessories 2" kit, and the other was Roger's 1" kit. I personally felt that Rogers stuff was top notch. Much nicer than the PA kit. I am still considering a 1" for myself, and if I do get one, it will be Rogers kit for sure.
