with those results and your stable compression.... put the jeep in service and ignor it. sounds like number 2 has valve problems.... but 24.... on an older engine..... its fine. if the smoke is bothering you see whats wrong with the head/valves.

Well Sunder, If I wasn't getting the fouled plug on #2 I wouldn't give it a second thought. I'm certainly not looking for any extra work for sure.

I'll tell you one thing, with a fresh plug in #2 the jeep runs like heck. Very spicy motor. If I could get rid of this issue with #2 I'd be very happy.

Sunder, another question. Is it because the compression is good that you think it's the head/valves rather than rings on the leak down test?

Also, given the compressiong and leak down test results, do you think the engine can handle the 4.0L head?

Thanks,

Just a quick note. I have used BG44 before. It does a great job cleaning carbon and junk. If ya pour a bit on a piston head fulll of gunk, it will be clean in 5 mins. Ran it in my 79 blazer 350 and you could eat off the inside after. Ran great after use.

Where are you getting the 44 from? I havent seen it in years. Good luck with your engine man... my fingers are crossed for ya.

compression tests usually give you ring status adn leak down test show moe problems with valves. did you do the stethecope in the intake crank and exhaust like i suggetsted?? it will tell you ware the air is leaking out from. with good solid numbers across the board on a compression test i'd say your bottom end could take a 4.0 head.
