The O2 sensor will get lazy over time, it won't necessarily trip the CEL. Depending on mileage it may be worth it to change.

You need to account for your new tire size when calculating mileage - your speedo and odo are now off w/ the increased tire size.

You got some responses to your paint color question on the ToySUV Forum, pop in over there.

Body Damage is Cool
The other thing I thought of that can cause hesitation and sputtering is the fuel filter. Since yours getting too much fuel it probably isn't the problem. I am doing mine tonight for GP since mine looks quite old and crusty and I have no idea when or if or if was ever done.

My first reply! smile

So shouldn't the mileage get better since I went down in tire size? Does 1" really make any difference?

I have about 95,000 miles now on a 94. Also probably worth noting I have a leaking radiator and power steering pump. Don't think that affects it but please tell me if I'm wrong.

Thanks!

Better fix those leaks! Espcially the radiator!

Got the radiator, but I'm doing the timing belt at the same time, and those parts are due to arrive early next week. Picked up FSM today (if anyone needs anything looked up for a 94 4Runner let me know). I have a lot of reading to do on the board about the timing belt and am a little overwhelmed (but glad to have it) at all the info. But once it's healthy...then the REAL mods will begin. smile

Doh! Ol' dyslexic Joe here. Actually if you were properly adjusting for mileage in the past, your mileage should increase slightly w/ the smaller tire due to less rolling resistance, etc.

So you're doing the timing belt? That along with a full tune-up should help.

Your leaking radiator and steering box shouldn't affect mpg - but as Greg said they do need attention.

Other things that might affect mpg are alignment, sticky brakes, bearings. But see what the timing/tune-up does, and the O2 sensor.......

The FSM is the best investment you could make.

Be patient. Take your time, and it will all turn out well.
