OK it's been a while, and can't find it on my search. I got a few questions

Does the Auto 7M have computer ccontroled auto trans, or is it as easy of a swap to a W56. Yea I know about flywheel and bellhousing.

How much does the 7M wiegh? of more than 22RE? Think I may go coils in front for a change.

Anyone running AC yet, got any info?

I plan to get back to wheeling this year. Have been working 6 days a week for the last 8 months. Now I got some time to fix everything. Hope to be together by Cruse Moab ( need AC)

I've never done the swap, but I'm thinking about it and have done some reading. I don't know about the trans, I plan on using the W56. The motor weighs about 100lbs more than a 22r. The stock a/c compressor will fit but you may have to space your steering box about 1/2" out from the frame. Running all the lines could be tricky, and the condenser will be a real tight fit. I talked to VueDoo on the phone yesterday. After he saw mine his buddy did one inan early 80s mini. Auto trans car has a seperate computer for the trans. You just eed to do something with the nuetral safty switch to get it to work.

The Radiator I plan to use will be crossflow Alu, without a filler. Plan to put the fill in the top radiator hose, and rebuild the core support back on top of the radiator and still use hood latch from factory . WIsh me luck, I'll let you know how it goes

I am not sure about the 7M but on my 5M (you saw it two years ago at GSMTR) I put the a/c where the 5M's power steering was at and the power steering where the the 5M's a/c was at. The a/c was simple, use 1/2 of the power steering mount from the 5M and 1/2 of the trucks a/c mount with a plate that joins the two. The power steering will take some trial and error to fit between the frame and block. If you have high steer it may be easier, not sure. I like your idea of the filler being in line and the radiator mounted under the core support.

I got my PS pump in the drivers side. Still playing with the AC mount. I did end up breaking it off somewhere on the trailer home from California.

PS pump is close, had to put part of the Supra lines on the gearbox

If anyone knows Frydaddy from our trips around. His cousin Bucky just got a 7M supra, and Kenny got a 5M supra. So we will now have 3 in Rice on the Rocks. I should have them down by the time we get these together. But they are having fun racing the cars around Frydaddy's land. I plan to go there midweek. I'll take some pics

Man! Count on 4x4Wire guys to come up with the good ideas. I'm waiting for spring (here in Wisconsin) to start working on a Supra 7M-GTE swap into a first gen 4runner.

The problem I am seing is the Alternator belt may be in the way. May have to make some tricky hose config.

OK wisen me up, I want to eventually do the 7m swap. The problem is my old g-52 took a dump this morning and locked up. How hard is it to upgrade to the w-56 in an '84 pu. Second question, I had a link to an importer in the LA area, but I can't seem to find it. Can any one enlighten me to a good source for engines and trans??

You will need to go to the W trans. The Supra engine came with a W sieries trans so the swap is just from 2WD to4WD trans. Use the Supa Belhousing, and everything inside it.

The problem you will have is:
The Trans has the shifters in a diferent position, you will need to cut holes in the floor.

The engine bay in the earlier trucks is smaller than the 87 I have. I do know soeone who did it with custom motor mounts, and denting the brake booster. So it can be done. He also is running puller fans so it may work without pushing it back as far as he did.

As far as a engine, I would recomend getting a whole car to get all the electrics out of. If you go with an JDM motor the electrics may not be the same, and the harness will be cut so you will need to search all that out.

What kind of wacky plumbing is going on in this picture? I see a skinny line going from the thermostat housing back to the firewall and heater hoses to some kind of heat exchanger? Is that one of those hot shower thingies?
