I previously had a 92 DOHC Troop. I loved it until the power steering leak that was not visible because it was collecting in the alternator shorted the alternator thereby spiking my tranny computer and resulting in a $1500 repair happened. (run-on intended)

sorry that i'm a little late to this thread. i think i'm going through this, except backwards. last year, my tranny blew. then, the tranny solenoids had to be replaced (shortly after the tranny reman, but long enough after for the warranty to expire), that was when i learned that my alternator was not putting out enough current under load, and just recently i've noticed that i'm leaking powersteering fluid. i was just going to keep topping off the power steering (actually atf) fluid, but after reading this, i'm getting motivated to get back under the trooper. i've tried to pinpoint where it was leaking, but was having trouble.

kuranosuke, do you remember what had to be replaced to fix your powersteering leak?

moog, i've been doing a lot of thinking about getting another trooper. although it will be awhile, i've decided to get a '95 with a manual transmission. advantages: wider track, redesigned dash, lack of sotf 4wd (one less thing to go wrong), and if it is a stick shift, the lack of the 4l30e (again, one less thing to go wrong).

good luck, taro
