Check the connections at the fuel pump. Specifically check the ground.

when you spray to check for the leaking intake manifold gasket, you sray near the injectors, beneath the intake manifold common chamber. this is on the top of the engine, above the valve covers. hope you get your rodeo up and running soon

I replaced my fuel pump last week... Mine died on the highway in a similar fashion. I have a 91 rodeo w/a 3.1. Imagine how mad I was when I replaced the old fuel pump & found out the old one still worked when I straight wired it for a test. So.. I got some educational experiance out of the deal: The fuel pump will not get power if any number of other thing go wrong. Pull EVERY single fuse out & check it.. both under the hood & in the interior. My "Engine" fuse was blowing.. It was due to a wire harness that had pushed against the exhuast & caused a short. Check your turn signals & hazards.. a bad flasher relay can interrupt the circuit to the fuel pump (odd I know). You prob is likley electrical.. and will just be a matter of tracking it down. My wire harness prob took me all night to find & about 40 fuses.
