I'd like to see one of these, too. I suggest carefully measuring the width of the engine including all the exhaust, height above motor mounts, distance from mounts to raidator, mounts to firewall. Note steering clearance and brake booster clearance problems, and battery clearance. Interferences can be worked around, but some (steering, for example) can be very expensive. Expect to need new plumbing from the turbo waste gate back. Look at radiator hoses and radiator tank connections. I'd have the radiator either rodded (if it's already a 3 row core) or re-cored. Turbos make a lot of heat.

The 6G72 DOHC engine will fit in a Gen I. Here's a swap that's from a Romanian site -

Don't know about the TT hardware, though.

Has anybody ever transplanted the 3000GT Twin Turbo VR4 motor into a GenI Montero? I have a 92 VR4 that was trashed from a high speed roll over, and the engine needs a home. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

want to sell the engine? I have a freind that would be interested in it smile

OHHHH, now your talking my language. 215 HP in a Gen I 2dr? The Sierra Nevadas just got a little closer.... The extreme longetivity of the 3.5DOHC is also attractive. Maybe drop a low mile unit in, change the lower plenum and valve guides. Hmmm....might have to check that site out. Gotta have cruise with that also, though

Damn, wish I read Russian Looks like he did it in a 4 banger. I bet he used all the 3.5 drivetrain, rather then adapting to the other bellhousing.
