Damn, wish I read Russian Looks like he did it in a 4 banger. I bet he used all the 3.5 drivetrain, rather then adapting to the other bellhousing. Isn't the xcase and tranny different? Maybe you can use the gen I xcase with the 3.5 tranny? You may need to get custom driveshafts done but that's not exactly rocket science and will certainly be easier than having new gearing made up again. Plus you'll be able to keep the 5.29's. Do it lloyd

That is a 3.0 unless I am mistaken. The 3.0 is the 6g72 and the 3.5 is the 6g73.
RPW told me that the 3.5 bolts right up to the 3.0 tranny, bellhousing paterns were exact acording to them.
Here is the problem that I see. Doesnt out tranny interface with ECU? Because in order to run the 3.5 you need the 3.5 ecu. Will this cause the tranny to screw up? I have no idea personally.
It would give you extra power, but honestly we dont need power, we need better gearing. LOW gearing. Yes there are lower gears available, but our lower gear sets put us only slightly above what alot of rigs come stock with. Also our trannies have pretty weak first gears in comparison to other makes out there.

I have been considering using a SOHC 3.5L as a swap in for my 3.0L in the Mighty Max. However, I have no desire to run an auto. I'm wondering if I can use the 3.0L flywheel on the back of the 3.5L and keep my five speed (the V5MT1 is a pretty stout manual). I'll have to get ahold of the RPW guys on their forum, they know most of the answers to this stuff...
1994 3.0L 4x4 pickup. 4.62 gears (4.22 stock), 33x10.5 BFG MTs. LSD rear. Five speed trans. 172K Previously owned Mitsubishis: 1986 2.6L 4x4 Mighty Max, 1985 2.6L 4x4 D50 1987 2.6L Raider, 1989 3.0L Raider 1995 Montero SR

Does any one know if they use the same crank shaft? If they did, than you could bolt any flywheel up to it that you wanted, either an auto or a manual one from a 3.0.

How about this route? 24V 3.5L - Gen2 Pajero Evo: Its a shame there isnt a good connection in Japan to import some of this stuff. A shame too the Pajero Evo or SWB Gen2 never made it here. Doesnt MitsuNA understand we americans love body cladding and high end ricer technology?

Mitsu NA knows all about ricers, and you can go buy one of those HUGE fendered piles right now.
