Whoever put that site up must speak English also.
That site is http://www.pajero.dn.ru
I went to "Pajero repair", and clicked on the "tech" sections.....and they are links back the tech stuff in this board!

Two MRI's and a CAT scan....it's confirmed. I'm just not right in the head.

That is a 3.0 unless I am mistaken. The 3.0 is the 6g72 and the 3.5 is the 6g73.

RPW told me that the 3.5 bolts right up to the 3.0 tranny, bellhousing paterns were exact acording to them.

Here is the problem that I see. Doesnt out tranny interface with ECU? Because in order to run the 3.5 you need the 3.5 ecu. Will this cause the tranny to screw up? I have no idea personally.

It would give you extra power, but honestly we dont need power, we need better gearing. LOW gearing. Yes there are lower gears available, but our lower gear sets put us only slightly above what alot of rigs come stock with. Also our trannies have pretty weak first gears in comparison to other makes out there.

Interestingly enough a 3.5 and simple 4:88 gears overwhelms the lack of gearing enough that even with 35s it will rarely stall, and 33s and 4:62 will stall substantially less then a 3.0 with 33s. From a crawlability stand point, since everyone uses autos now, WHO CARES? I think many are realizing how rediculous the persuit of 100s to one gears was, especially with autos. I have seen guys red lining there trucks just to move in low range Even the Rubicon guys generally agree there 4:1 is far too low for average wheeling. Maybe it depends upon what you want to do, but crawling as slow as I want all day with no stall under any situation and complete control is all I need. I just figure the 3.5 would sweeten that pot a bit, provide better highway cruise, and a newer engine. AS far as ECU, that is a good question. The Gen Is did not use alot of fancy electronic trans control, but is it tied into the ECU?

I've been curious about the 6G74 swap and according to information I've found on 3si.org, the 6G72 to 6G74 swap has been done. As a matter of fact, someone there has built a 4.1L monster motor. Back on track here, they claim the engine will bolt right up to the tranny in the 3000GT and the 94-95 3.5L block will bolt on all the existing accessories.

As far as the tranny is concerned, best I can tell is that the auto tranny behind the 3.0 is not electronically controlled. Besides, it appears the tranny controls for the 3.5 are separate from the engine controls. I'll research this further to verify, unless someone else already knows.

I'm getting more convinced this would be a very doable swap. After I fix a blown head gasket, I may investigate this as a potential replacement engine!

(Would someone please wake me up and bring me back to reality?)

There is a difference between not stalling, and crawling. Why dont you post some video of this "stalling", youe allways refering to it, but I really dont think it is a problem with an automatic rig.

What do you want to know? Indeed he replaced 2.6L with 3.0 24V DOHC out of Mitsu Sigma/Diamante. He used plenum out from Pajero 3.0L engine. Also all of the drivetrain is from Pajero 2 with Super Select/Active Track. He also put stock Mitsu locker in the rear axle.

Someone did this , it was posted last spring.
He had to make exhaust crossover pipes.

Maybe had to change timing house for oil fiter mount ...

I wouldn't do it if you go slow threadlightly ,, the 3000 has a different power band cause of the cams and it does'nt get power till high RPM.

Also this is a no valve clearance engine and if the T belt skips a tooth ALL your VALVES GET BENT>

Couldnt you use montero heads, in order to obtain the lower rpm characteristics?

Personally the only thing that interests me in this swap is the turbos, and the ECU that can handle the different fuel requirments that come with them.

Doug,

What lloyd means by stalling is simply not having enough power to crawl over an obstacle even when giving the engine gas.

It has happened numerous times on mine and I overcome it by using a running start. Of course this running start can equate to big problems if done too frequently. To begin with, steering issue will occur.

I'm sure you've encountered this, and if not, then you haven't done a hard enough trail <GRIN>

Blah blah blah. Maybe you guys just drive like grandmothers. I like the momentum method. (But it is also why I have steering issues every other trail ride )

Thats priety much it. Yes, a 3.5 will stall later, and an auto will stall much later then a stick on the trail, but with 33s stall they will. Mostly people who have not stalled simply have not done agressive enough trails, or have small tires. The scary thing is 4:22 Monteros with 31s will stall on gravel, mountain roads By stall, I mean bogging down to the point of no forward progress, not the engine dying or anything. This not only results in " ramming speed", winching, ect, but also causes sevier engine overheating. All this is exasperated by high altitudes as well. The higher you go..... If you come to Colorado the Poughkipsee stall fest will be the best example. With my auto and moderate gears, I can go as slowwwwww as I want, and never face that power fade. A little lower MIGHT be nice, but for the $$$$ it would cost, 50-1 works just fine for me.
