Anyone have one in the St Louis area? Im trying to take apart the front of the IFS and the channel locks wont get the one side off and I don't have time to order one.

I rented mine from Pep Boys when I put in my new axles a few weeks ago. They have a hub socket kit. 50.00 deposit, then you get it back when you return it. I'm sure Auto Zone would have the same deal.

i think a 2 1/8" socket is the same size, you can pick one up at sears for about 22$ if i'm not mistaken. you'll need a 3/4" drive adaptor though

Don't go to NAPA. they wanted something like $50. I ended up going to harbour freight or something and got a whole set of 3/4" drive with tons of HUGE HUGE sockets for $50. it even included a 3/4" drive 30" ratchet. All cheap crap made in China, but JESUS, it's cool to look at a 30" ratchet. and it got the job done!

Sears 2 1/8 socket and a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter...like 25 or 30 bucks.

You can probably rent one, But you can do what i just recently did and goto Hands on Tools.com
and pick up the 54mm socket for less then 12 bucks (with shipping and tax its around 20 bucks). It's the bets deal i've found and you can order it directly off that site.

Those work, on a good front end, but if you are trying to take a front end apart that has a problem like a bent or egg-shaped spindle they spread open. That is why I got the one from Sears!!!!!

If you can buy the Snap-On part #ANS1901A (Socket, Axle Nut, 2 3/32", 6-Point) off of the truck for ~$16.00 I see no reason to spend more for a cheap imitation.

Cool, thanks for the responses. Not looking to buy one since I can get the ones on and off my solid axle with the channel locks but am trying to get the nuts off the IFS sitting on the floor and for some reason they're stuck on tight. Trying to get them off to send them in the box with my old IFS Warn hubs.

I know that this post has been answered and that I will just stir up the stuff.................but...........

Don't ever "rent" a tool especially a simple one. You will need it again someday. This one is $25 tops and belongs in any Toy toolbox. The rental, gas to get it and hassle has to be about the same price.

There is no such thing as owning too many tools.

I actually have one of what you need and if I were closer I would loan it to you, hense it would be worth it to me to own it even if only to help out a fellow wheeler.
