I checked the spare instrument cluster I have, which came from a 1995 auto and they are just bulbs. They are the same type my old 96 Camry used. They come with the little twist in plastic piece attached. I found out after buying them at the dealer, NAPA had them too for 1/2 the price. Just remove the instrument panel and it is an easy job.
