Well right now, it is the stock suspension, and within the last few days am experiencing some wavering / friction /pulling to the right at freeway speeds. I am hoping it's just a wheel bearing

So I would like to fix that at the same time that I upgrade the suspension and wheels. I don't know anyone that I would trust to do it (the lift kit) correctly.

Here is another question: When I bought the Rodeo, they said one of the leaf springs was broken in the rear so will the upgraded suspension take care of that or will I need to buy a whole new OTHER set of rear leaf springs ? I see that the kits say "HELPER SPRINGS" ?

EDIT: Another stupid question but would you recommend a 2.5" exhaust cutout to free up the exhaust (I'm about to do a search on this anyways) ?

Any info appreciated ! !

If one of your leaf springs is broken I would go ahead and replace the whole pack. Darlington Offroad has a full new spring pack for sale.

I wouldn't have a shop do this install. Most of the shops that I talked to didn't like the idea of doing a T-bar crank to gain lift...however, that is the only option we have for a suspension lift. The lift kit is extremely easy, and if you get a new spring pack it is even easier. All you would need is a jack, some jackstands, and some wrenches(17mm, 14mm, 24mm, and 27mm are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Good luck

Steve

Getting the Wheeling Fever
You guys kick serious ass !

Ok I'm gonna get the wheel bearing ASAP after hearing that story on page 1 . I'll get that installed first ASAP, probably tomorrow. I am having a hard time seeing the differences in these various lift kits from $600-$800. They all seem to include the same stuff, meaning that there should be "ONE" obvious best overall $$$ deal right ? I kinda like the calmini kit so far, with the new front upper control arms but is there another one I should look at that's better for the $$$ ?

Or is it based on my future goals ? Mainly this is my winter / daily driver, with most of the offroading will not include those trees and rocks like in your gallery, but more like mud, deep snow, and hills. BUT I will go with the bodylift too if that is just plain better (better ride / suspension) ? But then I would like to get one of those chrome side step things and 35" tires if I do that...

Ok so the wheel / alignment guy didn't find ANY problems which would explain the wavering / friction I am feeling from the front right wheel (only occasionally, and only above 55mph). He said it isn't the wheel bearing, or the brakes. Now I am paranoid as hell.

I would suspect the tires, except the wavering / wandering only happens occasionally. They didn't find any alignment problems which would explain the symptoms.

They did swap the front tires, and a minor toe-in adjustment..

What do you guys think

Hey whose blue rodeo is that in the first post? Never seen it before, pretty solid.

Hmmm don't know what to tell you bout the wandering problem. I woulda said wheel bearings, or somethin in the suspension, possibly wheels bent or tires out of round. But all that stuff I would think the shop should detect easily.

As far as lifts, some people think the calmini lift includes a bunch of stuff that isn't really necessary. Like the heavy duty torsion bars and cross brace. I would check out the Indy4x or DOR lifts. The lifts are pretty simple to install, maybe you can get one of us to volunteer and come help yah.

I just have 2 inches of suspension lift, via shackles and torsion bar crank/ balljoint flip. That cost me nothing. I'd like to add a couple things though like balljoint spacers, low profile droop snubbers, maybe another inch from add a leafs. You can buy all that stuff separately, which is good if you are on a tight budget.

And if you wanna buy your tires at the same place as your lift, indy4x does carry tires and wheels, he will mount em up balance and ship em to yah ready to be put on.

35's looks cool, but I just wouldn't recommend them if you want to do any real wheeling, they just put too much stress on everything. And with the 3.1 which you already feel is underpowered, you would definately definately need to regear, which is damn expensive.

Good luck!

Do you have a junk yard near you? The reason I ask is because you don't want to just replace one set of leafs with new ones. This will give you a higher ride on the new side(older springs have flattened out a bit).If you want to replace both sides then go with all new ones. I got 2 sets of Isuzu springs from a junyard near me for $36. That's pretty cheap if you ask me. I would also say that the lift will be really easy, most shops will kill you on labor costs. I second the PB Blast, that stuff is great. If you have it then wd-40 works pretty good too.
