Been lookin at some options. Two questions...

1)Is it true K&N filters give you better gas mileage?

2) What custom filters are on your trucks and reviews of them.

Thanks

From what I understand people using the K&N in the toyota have not seen any benefits from it, except that it is cleanable. Personally I use the Amsoil air filter. It is an oiled filter and can be washed every so often. Do some research on it on the forum, its been talked about several times.

I had the Amsoil filter. Just is a pain to clean and re-oil. Know what, the OEMs work just fine.

NHRA Drag teams spend 100's of thousands of dollars to
shave a tenth or so off their 1/4 mile times. Right????
You would never "feel" a change in your vehicle from an air
filter. It's one piece of a puzzle which would include
Airbox mods and a aftermarket exhaust system. One with out the other is only 1/2 the puzzle. You'll be moving more air through your oil coated filter than you would through a paper filter. Fact....more air equals more horsepower.
Blowers an superchargers do just that . Jamming huge amounts of air through the engine.
One little filter will only do so much. Kenny s>

However, the results from simply opening up the intake are marginal, particularly on the 3.4. The real benefit is in increased fuel economy. I estimate a realized 6% overall gain in MPG. The caveat is that I use the "egg on the accelerator pedal" method of acceleration.

HP gains are imperceptible with any airflow mod on the 3.4 until you go SC. So many people have tried to prove that noticeable gains in performance are realized, only Gadget (that I am aware of) has proven by testing and objective evidence.

It sounds cool though.

The perfect air filter would trap 100% of debris but it
would let no air through. Today's filters use the oil and larger openings to maximize air flow and debris removal.

Don't forget air temerature. Cooler air makes for more horsepower. I believe they even make some sort of ice cooler for air intakes to create the cool air needed for peak performance.

Modifications to the average vehicle require many mods that will equal increased performance and fuel economy.
But in small amounts. Don't expect to lifting the front end with a air filter mod. Kenny S

AZRAin....like I said, air mods are only as good as your exhaust sytem. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Here is a test of air filters from BobIsTheOilGuy.com that you might read and make up your own mind.

I read that once and had to do a Google search to find it again.

Yes, just take two paper towels and sandwich the filter between them as you squeeze it between your hands together.
