The new wire from the pump to the fuse box is only half of the electrical equation!! Check the rear ground wire (bolts to frame on back right hand corner). Mine was corroded and it was a pain to trouble shoot, but I finally got it (after 2 fuel pumps). Your pump is likely drawing excess amps in order to overcome a shoddy ground. This heats it up and shuts it down. After it cools off (~15 minutes) you can get going again. defitely check the sediment issue too, but my money is on the ground wire!!! Good luck.
