I just bought a 84 truck for the solid axle to do a SAS on my 87 4Runnner, bought it sight unseen the seller told me that it did have a comlete axle and a engine in it but was missing the trans a T-case.

When I pulled it home and opened the hood I was very suprised to find a 2L engine sitting in it.. Anybody know about this engine?? Does it make any power? Is it something I might want to use?? Is it something someone else might want to use??

Thanks
RAZZ

these are (from what I've heard)very stout motors, but they have less power than the 22re. like most deisels they will(with the right care) last a very long time. they also made this motor in a turbo-deisel (2lte?). which supplies just as much if not alittle more power than the 22re. they also made a rare(not found in US)turbo-deisel the 3LT-ec? which is the 3.0L(I think) engine found in the larger trucks. the 3LT is the way to go and is the motor I plan on swapping into a something one day. it only takes $$ and luck to get one..........Karl

2L= 2.5L D 85 hp 165Nm
3L= 2.8L D 91 hp 188Nm
5L= 3.0L D ?
2LT= 2.5L Turbo 94 hp 215Nm
2LT-E= 2.5L electronic injection turbo diesel, 102 hp 260Nm

If it runs, it's easy to fit a turbo on a 2L. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
if it still has the stock bellhousing, it'll bolt right up to a w56, since that's what the motor came with

it won't work with a 22R bellhousing, you need one off a 2L
