Did some searching in KYB's catalog the other day and found the following info for all you Gen II owners -

Stock
Front - KG54302
Rear - KG54303
Extended length - 17.99, compressed length - 11.57, stroke - 6.42
top mount - 3/8" stem, bottom mount - 16mm x38mm sleeve

Extended rear shock - 343161
Extended length - 20.28, compressed length - 12.01, stroke - 8.27
top mount - 3/8" stem, bottom mount - 12.8mm x38mm sleeve

The only two catches I see is 1) need to extend the bump stop by 1/2" to prevent bottoming out shock, and 2) have to replace the bottom sleeve with the 16mm x 38mm one. I believe this should be possible.

Need a Spot
I spoke with KYB's tech over the phone regarding the 343161 and he said they are not valved correctly. He said they would need to be replaced in a week because they provide about 1/3 of the dampening neccessary for the Montero. I read another post about the Montero's rear shock angle that requires more dampening than a vehicle of comparable weight. My 2c.
