quick bit of info for you regarding trooper axles...

the older ones....like 88-95 are a little narrower, i want to say 56" is what comes to mind....i'll try to get a real measure fore you.

the later ones (96-99) are a couple inches wider (ase the newer troopers got wider)

there is an ARB available for the early and late version.

RD44 - fits the 87-95's w/ 1.32" 26 spline axles

RD85 - fits the 98+ w/ 1.50" 23 spline axles

so early axles:

more common
narrower: 56" +/-
smaller shafts BUT....higher spline count
ring gear roughly sized like a Dana 44
locker: ARB
gears: 4.56, 4.77. 5.38

late ones:

little wider
little bigger brakes
larger shafts, BUT lower spline count
Larger ring gear - roughly like a 60
locker ARB
gears: 4.30's (i think) (5.38's available Internationally)
