Thread groundrules: 1. It has to be possible to do - not easy, just possible 2. It has to be theoretically sound (and this may start a dandy thread hijack or two) 3. You can hijack the thread, but don't let that stop additional contributions to the original theme. 4. One man's daily driver is another man's dream mod - that's fine, just list the one that appeals to you the most, even if it's already been done. 5. Commenting or criticizing is fine, just keep it to ideas, not personalties. I find it possible to like you just fine and still disagree with some of your ideas.... 6. The hard part - one to a customer - pick your dream mod and tell up why.
Here's the first in my style - you get to tell it your way
The "perfect" 2.6 motor with: 14G turbo, water/air i/c, programmable speed-density ecu, 8.2:1 compression Mahle forged pistons, Aussie magna late model head with roller cam and bigger combustion chamber and bigger valves (Hell, really dream! an HKS 4 valve head), custom intake with individual tapered velocity stacked runners with 70mm throttle body, DIS programmable ignition. 275hp/300ftlbs torque/25mpg.
Why? Have you ever driven 275hp in a 3500lb vehicle, or the equivalent power/weight ratio? It's a HOOT. It will plain eat up rice, and a lot of bbq and filet mignon and sauerkraut, too.
Power may corrupt, but it makes you SMILE....
Not responsible for advice not taken...

I know better than to actually seriously consider it, but I've wanted to crowbar one of the twin-turbo 3000GT engines into a 1st-gen Mitsu 2wd pickup...make a lovely little sleeper out of it to eat rice with.
There's certainly room in the engine compartment...mounts would have to be fabricated, but that's par for the course for any motor swap. The only really tricky bit that I can think of is finding a RWD (sans t-case) transmission (either MT or AT) that'll bolt to the V6. I don't believe that they ever offered the later 2wd pickups with the V6.
Might require either a custom bellhousing to mate the V6 to the transmission, or fabricate a custom output cone to replace the t-case on a 4wd AT.
Or I could just be blowing it out my ass.

Mine's pretty straightforward. Get the stock '88 Starion motor with automatic tranny ECU in my Raider running, then bolt on a set of 255/60 R 15 tires at 26" in height and watch things get smaller in the rearview mirror. Would look pretty funny though, because that truck has a 2" body lift, add-a-leafs and the t-bars cranked up. Would probably be quite a bit faster in the 1/4 than when it was wearing the 33's that are on it now!

I would like to gut my wife's 95 Grand Cherokee, And stuff the whole running gear into an 87 Raider body.
Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.

Here's one that popped into my head within the last two weeks... 1) Get a wrecked GenII (preferrable the frame is still straight) for cheap. 95+ would be better for HP and of course my preference would be 95-96 so I could get HP and MT. 2) Get a decent Gen I with a blown drive train. 3) Shorten the Gen II fram for the same wheel base as the Gen I. 4) Cut the body mounts off of the Gen I frame and reweld appropriately in to the Gen II. 5) You get it from here...
Why this over a Gen II V6 into a Gen I? 1) Gen II axels have 5.29s still available. 2) Active-trac is good. 3) Better t-case [as I understand from others' posts]. 4) Four wheel disc brakes. 5) Just because...
Good thread idea Fasteddy. You always come up with the fun ones...

I have a friend that is acctually wanting to put a Super charger in his 98 Monty. He sounds serious, but doesnt know where to start, and he's got the money, So he doesnt care if its a lil pricey.
Anyone know of anything, maybe something from the Pajero Evo in those Dakar Rallies. He's serious too, thats what scares me

I am going to start a new mind project for you guys to toy with.
Project Monty Buggy
-Start with any 2 dr body and frame. -Do rust work and get the body and frame tip top. -Cut the top off from the windshield back. -Install a very nice roll cage with triangulation, lots of tube. Insulated canvas top for the winter, bikini top for the summer. -Strip down the drivetrain and put a 4.3 or other chevy engine in, auto tranny, np231 with 4:1 -92-93 Sr locker rear axle (4.88 and locker thats why) -ford hpd60. 35 sline outers, arb locker (4.88's) -tube out the wheel wells -stretch the rear wheel base a couple of inches. -4 link suspension front and rear, coils to keep it cheaper. Lift but nothing crazy, the wheel wells are gone so no clearance issues there. -37 inch goodyear mts on those hummer rims with new centers. -8274 front winch -rear winch integrated into rear bumper. -quick release doors, with tube doors for trail riding.

I know it sounds silly, but I would like to have a cot that's suspended from the interior "gutter" so's I can sleep in safety without having to set up a tent. This theoretical project will soon be turning gears in my head so hopefully I can make it a reality before CO this summer.
