I've been dinkin around with figuring out a tranny/crawler box/t-case using Isuzu parts for the better part of a year now and I just threw in the towel.

The AW A340E/AW4 is a good tranny that should hold up well to your use. It gobbles up torque out of the Tundra V8 and hp out of the Supra twin-turbo. SWEETER still to stir that slushbox with the Volvo Geartronic setup. Pray tell with what Deb will be shifting her car? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

Don, a new Isuzu friend, stopped by this weekend with a 30-80LE under his Trooper -- and IIRC, that's the same slushbox that Ryan has under his Trooper. Is that the same auto tranny that was released in very limited numbers in the first-gen Amigos? If you wanted to stay on the pure side, you could swap on the Isuzu transfer case that came behind the 30-80LE, but I think the Dana 300 is better for your uses (and has twin-stick capability and multiple gearing options available). Besides, it allows me to rib you about Isuzu Purism. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

Does Deb know you bough a Klune? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" /> Great product, reasonably priced, IMHO -- but that's a STACK of coin nonetheless. BTW, with 51:1 and a moderate-slip converter, you'll be able to override your brakes if you throttle into it... I doubt you'll be able to hold 132:1 even at idle!

Nice, short setup, Dan... that should work GREAT and I like how you've assembled mostly bolt-up parts. Truly a staggering amount of research to do that, eh? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> You should be able to do a custom TC or custom flexplate and wind up with whatever fluid coupling characteristics you desire. Talk about adjustability!
