With the jeep bell and torque converter removed (lying on the floor in the pic), I bolted up an Isuzu 2.6 bell housing that Jerry has selfishly loaned to me smile So, with a flexplate and coverter for the 2.6, I'll have a bolt-up auto.

This is the only part that has me confused. So the auto tranny that came behind the 2.6 has a removable bell housing? And then that bell housing will bolt up to the tranny you just bought? I am used to 1st gen Amigos, so the 2.6 + auto is a rare find (never seen one and don't know anyone who has one), and the 5-speeds are all integrated bell. Since the auto was probably much more common behind 2.6 Troopers, how difficult of an item is that bell housing to come by?

BTW, the amount of research you have in this project is very impressive<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Can't wait to see how hard of a swap this ends up being. All of the parts seem basically "bolt together"...... which are two words I never thought I'd see in the same sentence as "2.6 tranny swap".
