The AW A340E/AW4 is a good tranny that should hold up well to your use. It gobbles up torque out of the Tundra V8 and hp out of the Supra twin-turbo.

The Tundra V8 has the same designation "A340F" tranny as my V6 4Runner but the one behind the Tundra V8 seems to survive more torque since the V8 can be supercharged as well with TRD parts installed at the dealership. A couple supercharged 4Runners have destroyed their trannys at sea level in conjuction with a few fuel mods. I bring this up here because I've checked at the Toy dealership about what parts are different between the Tundra and 4Runner A340F's. EVERY part number for the internals of those trannies is different. Not sure of the significance of that fact yet. Yes, Level10 mods are available to soop up the valve body as well as the transmission itself, if needed. Then it's said to be good up to 600 HP. So it's certainly a good transmission, or at least the foundation of a good transmission.

I don't know anything about how the internals compare to the Jeep AW4. Congrats to Dan for figuring out that the same transmission is cheaper and more readily available as a Jeep part. Plus the Klune is an easy addition and way cool.
