Does anyone have an answer as to when the 2dr LWB ended its production run and the RS began? I know the years roughly 87/88 for the last LWB; 89 for the RS. I am trying to narrow it down to the months. Was there ever a RS listed as an 88 or a 90? What was the last month of production for the 2 dr LWB (roughly)? I know in some states DMVs can get crazy with titling and call a late model 89 a 90, but what I'm looking for is a production date. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Craig

Not to sound impatient but anyone have an idea?
For example say you have a 1989 RS, does the door jamb label have to say month/89 or was there such a thing as like a 10/88 RS possibly sold as an 89?

The reason is an add in the classifieds near my rents that reads "88 Trooper 2 Dr. $695" Then there is a #. Its in upstate NY 4 hrs. from me and I've yet to hear from anyone with a clue on the different models, whether its an RS or a LWB. "Just has 2 doors dude, runs great, come take a look."
Before I make the trip I am just trying to figure out what to expect. 10-1 its a LWB but I wonder if there is a chance its an RS.

Thanks again
Craig

i'm not sure, but i think some of the RS's might have rolled out sometime into 1990, but i don't think there were any in late 88. i'm sure some of the RS dudes will post up with their dates soon enough.

I don't have mine handy so I can't look at it, but if the seller can give you the VIN #, you may find the answer by looking that up on ITOG.
Just a thought.

even if it isn't, I really like the 2dr LWB, and to have the EFI 2.6 and 10/12 bolt would be sweeet. plenty of room to cut out back, and a really good wheelbase.

FWIW the 88 2drs are pretty rare, in fact, I've seen more RS's than 88 2drs.

Yeah I love my 86 2dr LWB and would like the same set-up as a 10/12 combo and the FI motor . Sucks that mine won't be ready til at least May looking more like August though. I was just thinking, far-fetched mind you, that scoring an RS to pillage the rears and other parts from on the cheap would be cool. Or if it it was somewhat decent fix as another trail toy. Can never have to many parts rigs at the rents house I say.....even though the old man sees it differently.

Regardless of what model it is I would like to look at and if the trip can happen this wkend and I can scrounge up the extra money, it might end up mine. But seeing as both of those are a long shot I may just have to live with my DD and wait until I get mine on the road. 2 Troopers in the yard would be nice though. Now to get the g/f to sell her car and buy an Isuzu

Production for the 89 model RS was 11/88====89

production 88 model RS ;; 11/87=== 88

2 door was only available in the RS in 89 after 89 production for 90-91 only 4 doors were available

88 production had an s model 2 door lwb only

87 models had 2 and 4 doors both LWB
hope this helps if you look at the production date on any of the vehicles and it was made after 10 or 11 month of the year, it is allmost always the next model year
that is the reason some folks think they have an 87 with the 1`2 bolt rear and the fuel inj 2.6 , never happened, all 87,s were carbed , they were getting to the point thewy would not meet federal emmisssion specs , so 2.6 and efi .on the 88
