I have a 1994 v6 pickup. I filled up with engine oil and started for a trip to California. (Dallas to Los Angeles). When I got to California, I checked the dipstick and the oil level was way below the minimum level. I felt like a dipstick for not checking the oil level during the 1500 mile trip. I still got 20 miles to the gallon on this trip. I was mostly doing the speed limit, around 70-75 mph.

My question is where did all that oil go? My truck eats up a quart of oil every thousand miles. Is this normal? There is no external leak. I don't have an oil puddle where I usually park. Do I have a leak somewhere else? My truck likes to eat coolant too. I have to refill the coolant resevoir every once in a while.
