I have a '99 Motero Sport XLS (i wish i would have got the limtied :-( ) Took it to moab for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had a blast, 2 of the trails we did were Fins and Things as well as Poison Spider. I would like to add a dif locker before the next trip. Is there someone who can help me with advice about that? I would like to know about the electric lockers that comes for Mitsi and also about any aftermarket lockers.

I checked with a couple of local dealerships that were both pretty clueless. So I have decided to go with an aftermarket dif locker. Is there anyone that will PLEASE point me in the right direction for information regarding one for my '99 monetero sport.

thank you

Rock on with the ARB air locker. Use the search function and you should come up with a ton of stuff!

Have you run a search? This a recurring theme and there are countless past threads on what exists. I cannot recount the options in proper detail, so I won't try.

Have you been to the ARB site? They make the only aftermarket locker. Don't know how it fits up to your MS.

Diff gears are also a common topic so seach for that as well.

BTW put you truck info in you profile so it shows up in you posts. It will help others to answer down the road...

Your 3.0 Sport has the same rear end as the 3.0 Monteros. Should use ARB locker #RD25. You can also use a factory locker from a '92-'93 Montero SR, which you may find at a local pick & pull. If you go that route, you'll have to change gears because you have 4.636 and the SR's came with 4.625. Not really a significant difference unless you have full time 4wd, which I don't think you do. You also need to be aware that this means you have the large front diff and should be able to fit the new front ARB when it comes out.

The Landcruiser guys are all a buzz about $200 Aussie lockers which appear to be not dissimilar from a Lock-rite. Well,,,, since the aussies have many more Pajeros and trucks than we, Has anyone tried to find if this new company has decided to bless us mitsu fans with an application? The search is on! First to find a cheaper alternative to the ARB please post.

92-93 Montero came with 4.875. You would definitely have to change your gears. Good luck finding those years SR with rear locker. 4.636 v 4.625 is absolutely negligible. It equates to approximately 0.08ö difference between front and rear tires on truck equipped with 31ö tires. Anyone over here with so perfectly worn tires. I doubt that.

I e-mailed Tom Hewitson of 4WD Systems in Australia back in February and got this response: "not yet ready for front. no plans for rear.
will advise when released"

I knew that! Good catch! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Yea, the 4.625 vs 4.636 is within the 1% maximum difference recommended between front & rear, but I'm anal retentive and like things to match exactly! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
