Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
Well I just went out to start my truck for the first time today and it will not start. Now I'm pretty sure its not the battery since I put in a new Optima about 3 weeks ago and I didn't leave anything running last night that would put a drain on the batt. Plus my alt. and starter are not even 6 months old yet. Went ahead and tried to pull the ECU codes but the check light on the dash keeps blinking really fast. This is my first time doing this so I'm not sure what that means. Cant jump start it either b/c no one can come help me right now. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, btw I did wash my truck last night if that makes any difference.

Well, whats it doing when you hit the key? Do you have lights? Radio? Getting a click when you turn the key?
If no power anywhere, check your connections at the battery and the main fuse block under the hood. Could be something as simple as a wet connection, burnt fuse or broken fusible link.
Start simple and work into the harder things. Put a meter on the battery and see how much juice it has.

I just went out and looked at it again. All the fuses on the fuse block were good and my batt. connections seem to be fine as well upon visual inspection. Thinking it might be the batt cables. As for all the accessories....dash lights come on when I turn the key and I hear a click coming from where the ECU inside the cab is. Radio doesn't work as well a my horn.

Not sure about the radio/horn, may be coincidental. The clicking is the circuit open relay, it's a good noise, but something else is preventing starting. Have you checked your clutch/neutral interlock switch depending on if you have MT or AT. Could try hitting the override and see if it starts.

Yea, I am a little confused as well. I tried hitting the cluth start cancel switch but it did not help. I'm limited in what I can do since I dont have my tools with me, all I have is a 10mm socket and wrench with me so I dont have a multimeter to test the battery or any connections. All my other tools are at my g/f's house and she does not have a vehicle. Still confused about the ECU codes, anymore help or input would be great, thanks!

The fast blinking means there are no stored codes. Your best bet would probably be to bump start it (if you can) and get it somewhere where you have tools to diagnose and fix it. The no radio and horn sounds odd, but I dont think anything important are on those circuts, could be wrong.
