something else i remembered about the alternator. i'm glad a guy with a good reputation tested it because the guys at autozone tested my alternator and reported it tested fine. apparently, it started faltering as the load was increased. good luck, taro

Sounds like a problem in the torque converter. My dads
F-150 had a similar problem. It wouldnt go when you released the brake and only then it would go when you got on the gas and then it would spin the tires. Not exactly sure what happened, but that seems to be similar.

at 1250, it sounds like the front pump. The tq/con will not put any noticable load on the motor if the pump is bad. NOW, if the pump was going, it would've taken out a few things with it. The pump is what builds the pressure in the tranny, to "make things happen". If it was going bad, then the increase in engine speed would cause a rapid increase in pressure, the it would slam in to gear. Anyway, hope this shed a little light on the subject, of course, I could be totally of on this as well....
