Ive never sucked....suckled yes, other things yes...but sucked no. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Just to give you an idea of what I was talking about the other night. Here is a picture showing the replacement Bosch O2 sensor that is spec'd for your engine. [Linked Image]

Notice how short the actual sensor pickup is that would be inside the pipe? I mean, if there is any kind of riser between the pipe and the flange, the crystal thing would never get a reading from the exhuast flow. The more free flowing the exhuast...the worse the situation gets.

And this is a picture of the Stock Denso O2 sensor that is intended for your engine:

Notice how much longer the sensor area below the flange is? Still, if mounted up off the pipe so far that its not in the flow of the exhuast gases then its not gonna be able to do its job.

Also in order for these things to function as designed, they must first be heated by the exhaust gases before they can send proper signals to the ECU. 88' and later used a heated 4wire O2 sensor allowing them to placed farther down the system under the cab. The earlier ones were in the manifold for a reason...so they wouldnt get cold feetsies!
