As with so many of my DIY projects, I seem to always get stuck at some point.

I'm trying to replace the power steering pump on my 95.5 Rodeo. I got the lines off the PS pump and went to remove the pulley from the pump and I just can't loosen that bolt. The Haynes manual says to wedge a screw driver through a hole in the pulley and use that to brace the pulley (to keep it from spinning), then loosen the bolt on the pulley. No matter how I place the screw driver, there is always some give and the bolt holding the pulley is simply too tight. I tried knocking it with a hammer, but its just not coming off.

Apparently, I need to get the pulley off first because the PS pump mounting bolts are behind the pulley.

Any tips or know-how to get the pulley off. As with many of my DIY projects, I may have to put it back together and take it to a mechanic after all <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />.
