I am getting ready to tear into this and have a bunch of questions...
It is appealing to use the rears for cost reasons. There must be tons of these springs in junkyards that they are giving away. And the ability to custom tune.
1)For those running rear springs up front: did you locate front spring mount in stock location or go with the popular one inch forward location?
2) What does the two inches to the front do the caster?
3) What is the eye-to-eye measurement of the rear leaves vs. standard height or lift front springs?
4) For those running rear leaves: Did you take into account the different height of the axle spring perches on the stock Toy axle or just roll with it. My swap involves a Ford 44 I have laying around, but I am curious.
5) Anyone running into shackle-to-frame interferance if you used the stock style "Through-Frame" shackle mount? I am debating this or fabbing shackle mounts to weld to the bottom of the frame.
Thanks all for the input. I have read dozens of articles on this already and just want as much info as possible.
1) I started stock and them moved the hanger 3/4" forward and 2.5" down:
