May be going with an '04 #430477 04/06/04 11:03 AM

Emailed a few local Toyota dealers in a search for a '04 Tacoma extracab 4X4 auto with Limited package..
I like the '99 I picked up but always had 4 wheel drive and miss it.Especially in winter.

Here's an email I recieved.

Hi Joe,
I have several in stock. $300 over my invoice gets you in one. Take advantage this month on the great financing available on the Tacoma. It's that simple.
Tom D.

If he has one in Luner Mist I may pick one up.
I was thinking about the '05.
It's bigger and has the 4.0L.
Just not crazy about buying a first year model and dealer discount will be low if any at all.
Along with higher finance cost.

Tom, Here's my 2 cents on buying from dealers. I have bought A LOT of cars over the years from dealers and it has been my experience that after they have several autos of the same year on lot they will come off the price as much as they will on previous model year. Most of these dealers work on volume of cars sold in a month as much as net profit of each vehicle. Financing is a different story. Toyota will start offering special financing toward a end of model year. If it is 0.0 or 0.9 then you will save some considerable money. If it is 3.9 then most credit unions etc. can get very close to that.

Hope that helps.

Mike

I recomend finacing through a bank or your insurence company if you cannot afford to buy outright. Dont even let the dealer know your interested in financing. You can get way lower prices if you pay cash. I bought an 03 v6 ext cab 4x4 etc etc for 20g. BRand new. =D

My suggestion...I bought my 03 D cab at the end of the month. If the dealer has several on his lot, you should be able to get your choice at cost or $50 over. Dealers are anxious to increase month's end sales numbers and get desperate in the last few days. I got mine at invoice and they actually showed me the dealer invoice (not the consumer version). I asked for a copy of it and I thought they were going to shoot me for asking.

Thanks for the advice,guys.
If I buy it will be at the end of the month.
I will try to do better than $300 over invoice.
That was his first offer.
They make another 3% on the list price on the holdback.
I called and left a message. He;ll call me back and then the fun begins.

check out carsdirect.com for their prices, pretty competitive. But dont sign up with them yet because then you wont be allowed to buy via dealer internet team.

Just talked with a salesman.
2004 Loaded Doublecab 4X4 SR5
List$27596 Buy $24816

Was going to go with a Limited but salesman said if you don't want leather go with a SR5.
The only differences are badging and fender flares and save about $900.
1.9% financing also.

I'll think about it for awhile.
Low Financing is good till 4/30.
Most likely will be extended but availablity of the exact truck lessens as time goes buy.

The one I want has to be located.
I didn't go to the dealership so he didn't search yet.
There are a few in stock with similiar equipment but none with the chrome package in Lunar Mist.
I like the look of the Xtracab better but like you said 4 doors is better for me too.
