Congrats. Maybe post a few pics of the carb and the throttle armature? You may be able to do something with either the 85-88 22RE throttle cable or the 89-95 22RE throttle cable. The 85-88 cable is longer than the 22R cable, while the 89-95 cable is longer still.

Basically, post some more pics and we can kick it around.
