I've been thinking about making magnetic window screens for a while now. I've also thought about creating some sort of tent-like contraption to screen the tailgate when fully open. A storage platform would work great for that setup. I don't know how the folding rear seat would fit into the design though Has anyone else noticed the following? It seems like when I have all the side windows rolled up but the sun roof open, bugs don't tend to come in.. I get good enough ventilation as the heat can rise straight out, but the bugs don't seem to have discovered the open sun roof.. Also any body try sleeping for example in a 4Runner where the seats fully reclined to the horizontal position? Haven't done an all nighter in them, but seem to work pretty good for extended rest stops.. I've thought about laying the sleeping bag on top of the fully reclined seats and crawling in... After the torrential rains at Paragon last year at EC4RJ, anything is better than being on the ground in a tent..

I have a 2 pole tent that ive been using for many yrs now. Its simple to store, put together, and u can use with or with out the rain fly, and easy to hike to a good spot. Ive actually slept in a few trucks and i would prefer my tent to a truck anyday. but thats just me !!!

I have spent the night in my 4runner,,,,just laid out the sleeping bag in the seat for extra padding and went to sleep,,,,wasnt bad,,,,,but its still not like at home

We have always used a tent, although my wife has been hinting around at a trailer for the last little while. Up here you can't leave any food or dirty dishes out around, or in your sleeping quarters, so it has to go in the truck before you bed down. This makes a tent easier, since you can pile your foodstuffs in the truck, and not worry about it till morning. Course when all there is between you and a large hungry bear is a layer of nylon, you start to wonder sometimes if you'll be foodstuffs yourself, before morning...

Here is what Curtis from the Isuzu forum did for his Rodeo That's cool Just what I had in mind. With the back seat folded down and the tailgate open, I can lay down comfortably, and I'm 6'2". It would probably leak like a sive in the rain though.

Something else to consider. A hammock. not a conventional hammock either. check it out. http://www.hennessyhammock.com/features.htmhttp://www.hennessyhammock.com/catalogue.htm#Corporate partner of "Leave No Trace" "Outstanding reviews in Backpacker Sea Kayaker National Geographic Discovery USA Today" Awarded "Best of the Best" by Field and Stream No need to pack tent poles, ground cloths, bug screens, etc. Plus your rig doesn't smell as much like after a few days. --jeremy
when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.

Moab, UT)
