I’ve had my Jacobs Pro Street ignition for about 3 years. I’ve had LOTS of people ask me if it’s worth the money.. This evening I decided to put if to the test with my G-Tech meter and see if it make a difference in running my 4Runner down the quarter mile.
all ten runs were done within 1/2 hour from each other and all on the same road going in the same direction..
Check out my results:
With Jacobs 22.74@61.6mph 22.25@63.2mph 22.25@63.0mph 21.93@65.0mph 22.05@64.3mph Average 22.24@63.42
Stock Ignition: 22.51@63.1mph 22.15@63.8mph 21.85@65.3mph 22.29@64.2mph 21.88@65.0mph Average 22.09@64.28mph
Spark plugs were gapped at .050” and indexed per instruction from Jacobs electronics.
Keep on truckin’ RAZZ

you might wanna try increasing the gap a little. i'm going with .057", which was one of the few i experimented with. you gotta find the right gap that works the best with your engine.

I went with even more gap than that on my 1990 V6, with some noticeable improvement in the sub-3000 RPM range at part throttle. But no mileage improvement, and no full throttle improvement. Jacobs is a waste IMHO.

I recently put the jacobs ice pack (cost $130 on ebay) on my 92 22re, gapped plugs .015 over, and I could feel a power increase. Engine starts easy and runs smooth. I feel it was worth it but I wouldnt pay retail for it.
