Since I have chosen to live in the mountains and not in the crowded valley, my commute is about 50 miles one way. For economic reasons I just can't afford sub 15mpg. I really do like the Cruisers, but I just can't afford to give OPEC and Uncle Sam that much money. I tried to convince my wife to trade the Rover in on the FJ, but she really doesn't want to give up her leather. If I worked closer to my house, it would be a no brainer, but the 100 mile round trip makes 10-15 mpg really expensive. I spend about $30 every three days and that is with 20 mpg. My Trooper is in a similar category as the FJ, except it is small, ugly, no room in the interior, and the gas mileage is okay. I can't say I love it, but I can tolerate it as long as it will keep running.

It's a race against rust and the Trooper can't go fast enough to win!
