Check and see if there is a loop or something in the line.

I also bought 18 feet and ran it the other way. Starting in the back door. Across to the little rubber connector, out from under the plastic panel, under the carpet following the tranny hump and up under the console. I even had some leftover that I loosely coiled behind the dash.
