Ouch, what else could it be, any harmful effects of messing wih the timing?

No real harmful effects, unless you drove for awhile with the timing severly advanced or retarded, but even then highly doubtful, you would have driveability problems.
Did you recheck your afm & tps?

Yeah, rechecked the TPS and AFM, everything is still in spec. I put out the call to a StL based jeep board for a mechanic in the area. Figure I'll drop it off somewhere and have it figured out. My desire to wheel is higher right now than my desire to fix it myself.
