Well, the ringing bell sound does seem to be pinging. I put back the stock air box and the sound goes away. I even tried to use the stock elbow with the cone filter, thinking the stock elbow would introduce more restriction and reduce air flow, but the pinging still exists.

With premium gas prices at $2.27/gallon, I don't really want to do any mods that will increase fuel costs. So, looks like the intake is out for me. What a shame, the power loss is very noticeable with the stock airbox.

I might try following Dave Chang's stock airbox modification. I'd like to get to some place in between 'stock performance' and 'good performance with pinging'.
