I just tried the plunger-spring removal thing today, but didn't feel any difference either. As Jerry pointed out, it certainly would be more noticeable with a sticking pump, rather than a proper-working pump. Fuel timing increase should make a bit of difference, though. Which is what I'm going to do, when I get enough time (better be soon <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> timing belt is long overdue).
