I'd love to hear of a case where one failed and how it failed. Anyone personally seen one fail, or do we just hear stories? If I'm wrong I'd really like to know it.

Everyone be safe <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />, don't work under just a hydralic jack like I see morons <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> doing all the time.

Read the thread in the link above. I've seen it happen.

Also my brother in law has recounted 3 stories where he's witnessed them fail. As noted previously he's got over a decade of mechanic work under his belt (professional, not backyard). Fortunately, they've never failed while he was underneath. He hates to use them and instead custom fabricated from a solid block of metal a bolt/nut type jack instead (2"x6" bolt that threads into a 4"x6" nut w/ a 9"x1" tall round base). The bolt he made using solid rod and the base is from a piece of solid rod and a piece of 1" thick plate.

Perhaps I'll show him those locking pin units.
