Roll Me Over
Tuna (drained) in the can with Tobasco. Mmmm, mmmm - staple of the archaeologists diet.

Now they have "Tuna Creations" which are like MREs. I highly recommend them - delicious!

Doug remind me to cook if we ever go camping.

Beer can chicken is one of my specialties. Along with any beef, pork, lamb, etc meat product.

And I can cook a mean Spanish Pallela (shellfish, spanish sausage, and rice). I love to cook that but only for special ocassions. The seafood gets a little $rich$ to prepair.

Does it get any better than a big fat juicy steak cooked over the campfire? Washed down with a few cold ones? And then a few Oreo cookies!

Yes it does... Try Ice Cream instead of Oreo Cookies or better yet, simply add Ice Cream to crumbled Oreo's!! Did that in Utah once with a buddies ARB fridge.

Also, try this... freeze your steak in the marinade of choice prior to your trip and bring it with you and eat it on the 2nd day once it's defrosted a bit. Did that at this past fall's Sierra Challenge and the others were envious. Of course I also had some freshly sauted onions, & mushrooms on hand.

Another favorite dish was shared by a buddy Wit. Something called Badlands Goulash. Essentially sliced and pan seared sausage (polish, etc), onions, once seared add water & quartered potatoes, tomatoes, baby carrots, sliced cellery, cabbage (optional). Let that puppy stew for a bit (an hour is nice). Then serve!! Oh man, the crew was grateful we had extra!!

Geez mouth is watering just thinking about it. Gotta go get breakfast now.

I really liked the omelet in a baggie idea in the other post. Will definitely try that one next time out.

What do you guys do for coffee? For me that comes before any cooking starts in the woods. I hate instant, and have tried the "pour through" lay-on-your-mug coffee makers, as well as the ones that look like a teabag. Anyone ever used a 12v perc? I've looked at them, but haven't gotten one yet...

And nobody has mentioned "scrapple" yet. C'mon Doug, get on it!

For camp coffee, the best I've found is from a cheap camp perc pot. I usually use the teabag type since I'm the only one who drinks the stuff most times, but if there's more to share, perc's the way to go. I'd love it if someone made a camp friendly french-press, but I haven't seen one yet.

I don't like the normal instant but I do like the flavored instants. Like my old navy chief said... "I like my coffee the way I like my women... sweet and tan"!

You guys ever tried a quartered & sliced potatos, browned in butter, with saute'd onions, diced ham, diced bacon, diced bell peppers & copious amounts of cheddar & motzarela cheese melted on top, seasoned w/ allspice??

Oh man, talk about mouth watering!!
