theif - don't worry, I made sure it was the sending until first. I know not to throw parts at a car until something works. I guess I just haven't run it down far enough to get the light to come on. I don't think I'll try.

nunsa - I understand the 'dont go to the stealer' mentality, and happen to agree, but it's not my call. Technically the truck is still registered in my parents name, even though it's been 'mine' for 3 years now. I'm slowly turning their opinions though. Saving them 200 bucks by convincing them to let me install the new muffler myself was a big step in the right direction. As soon as I get a semi-steady income, I'll do what I can myself, believe me.

Funny side story - driving with my mom to my grandparent's house in our 94 4Runner, and the check engine light comes on. Car is still running fine, and it's only about another mile or two so I say just keep going. We get there, I jump TE1 and E1 and pull the codes. 14 and 72. I inform her of this and what the codes mean. She drives it to the dealer. Half an hour later they come out and tell her "well its giving you a code 14 and a code 72." Vindication!

Slowly but surely I am convincing them. Actually, mainly my mom. My dad gets it.

Cheez... how's that for getting off topic?

Thanks for the ideas and insights all.
