Oh man! Don't let your fuel get that low! You'll start sucking up crap from the bottom of your tank, no sh**! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Just playing devil`s advocate <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />, but the pump intake is on the bottom of the tank anyway,,,,it doesnt magicly float on top of the fuel, and when the tank is half or even quarter full,,,all the dirt and stuff will float around in suspension just from stoping ,starting and turning.if the engineers wanted to be serious about the whole thing then they would put a tank inspection drain on it like they do on airplanes,,,,then you could also get rid of water and crud in tank.but then again when your engine dies on the road , just pull over,,,in the air you now have a forced landing.

Funny side story - driving with my mom to my grandparent's house in our 94 4Runner, and the check engine light comes on. Car is still running fine, and it's only about another mile or two so I say just keep going. We get there, I jump TE1 and E1 and pull the codes. 14 and 72. I inform her of this and what the codes mean. She drives it to the dealer. Half an hour later they come out and tell her "well its giving you a code 14 and a code 72." Vindication!

Isn't that total B.S.?! Those freakin' monkeys did the same to me when my AFM went on the fritz! Of course, that was before I knew about the TE1 and E1 trick. I'm still pissed that they charged me $60 bucks for a @#%%in' distributor cap! "That should keep that truck from stalling." Yeah, YOU SUCK! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/bird.gif" alt="" />

Getting the Wheeling Fever
my '86 (fuel injected) has a low fuel light... carb models might not have them?

My '86 4Runner went to the bone-yard November 29, 2004 at 10am after roughly 430,000 miles on the original engine and transmission. :-( Looking for something else to wheel in...

i used to be able to run past "E" but since about a year ago when the needle hits the bottom of the E she'll sputter. I can get 16.5 gallons in a tank that i sputtered into the gas station on. The premium is a buck 90 i beleive... i try not to look anymore. About the "stuff in the tank" ... i replaced my fuel pump bracket a while back and the inside of the tank was spotless.

About the gas, i was watching a thing on the history channel the other day and it turns out all gas is the same.. UNTIL it gets to the various companys filler stations where they then put in their own additives before shipping the fuel by truck to various stations. Just thought i'd share my newly acquired knowledge of the fuel industry. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I'm between toyotas right now... 3rd Gen 4-runner soon.
