I am doing an oil change in my car today. I need to know whether or not I should use full synthetic or if synthetic blend is ok.

Also I am looking at either AC Delco, Bosch, or Motorcraft filter. Which is best?

Motorcraft is ford..so that one is out in my book, and never was a fan of AC filters... I always run K&N filters in just about everything, but beware of "side effects", like increased oil ppressure, and so on. There is a thread I read just a few minutes ago, where someone was discuss the better oil filters...BUT, THIS IS JUST MY OPINION...

The problem with synthetic blend is that they don't tell you how much synthetic is in the mix. If you must go with a blend, then make it yourself (say, 4 quarts of dino and 1.5 quarts of full synthetic, or whatever fits your taste). Just use the same brand and viscosity of oil so there is no conflict in the detergent formulas.

Why limit yourself to those 3 filters? They're all decent enough, but there are lots of good ones to choose from out there. My favorites are purolator and wix (aka. napa gold).

I don't want to drive across town to get the Wix and I haven't seen the Purolater either. I'll just make sure to not get AC Delco or Fram.

Once i figured out the filter and oil I like, then I bought a case when it was on sale. I use regular dino chevron supreme cuz both the virgin and used oil analysis shows it has good detergents, holds its viscosity well over time and has a decent amount of moly. Then, with my fumoto oil drain valve installed on my vehicle, oil changes are a breeze. I change it at 3k miles cuz it keeps my lifter tick at bay.

How is Valvoline DuraBlend Synthetic Blend Motor Oil

I am assuming "dino" is regular oil. Correct?

Thw whole reason for the synthetic oil change is to kill my engine peck. Will a blend do that?

I was gonna ask about Quaker State high mileage stuff. Thats what its got in it right now, and I was actually thinking of putting their 4x4 formulated stuff in it. But then again, its got a FRAM filter too.

Isuzu's TSB regarding the lifter tick specifically specifies (is that redundant? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />) Mobil 1 0w-30 full synthetic. I doubt very much that synthetic blend is gonna do it cuz it is almost totally dino (regular oil) rather than synthetic. Synthetics have higher cleaning abilities and resistance to varnish. I would go with the TSB for at least one oil change to see if it helps your engine peck. My vehicle is a little odd in that the lower vicosity oils (like 0w's and 5w's) will actually increase lifter tick. She likes thicker oil.

Personally, not a big fan of valvoline. The oil analysis don't come back that great. I'd personally go for halvoline (made by chevron), Mobil, Castrol, among others. Please wrap a big "IMHO" around all of the above.

As far as oils, adn filters, I am VERY picky. It all deopeonds on the usage. In my rodeo, high revving V6(3.2 DOHC), that does see those revs(leadfoot), adn alot of heat stress from towing the race cars..I use a K&N with Castrol Syntec. Period, no variation. In my race cars, I use conventional oil, 20-50 Quakerstate with a K&N. You get the hint. Your selection has has to do with 1. the primary isage of the vehicle, 2. personal preference. If you are running a high revving motor, use the catrol syntec, it does stand up a lttle better(in my experience), than standard oil. and the quakerstate, we change every week anyway...
