Was wondering what may happen if you put too much oil in your engine? I drained the oil and got around 7 quarts. I thought I was burning oil on the drive out but I guess not. Also had about 1/2 a quart in the airbox when I pulled it off. The line from the air pump I think to the top of the airbox is how it got there. Could anything be damaged by this?
Should note Im asking this trying to see what to expect tomorrow. Im going to run a compression check and see where it sits. Hopefully everything is at 100% but Im not so sure since I've replaced just about everything else.

First problem is the oil pan being too full and the crankshaft stiring it up. This causes the oil to foam as its churned and foam just isnt very cooperative with the oil pump/pickup. The oil in the airbox would be from standard blowby, having a higher level of oil plus the foamation (gotta add that one to the book! ) would make it easier for the blow by to carry it up through vents and into the intake. Kinda surprised you didnt blow any seals with that much oil in the system. My 4Runner came to me with 8 quarts in it. Poor little 22R-E was plum full.

Well, thats what Im worried about. What seals exactly would get messed up? It might explain why my truck is running like crap.

I dont know, cant hear the sound you are inquiring about.

Seals to worry about in a sitaution like yours is front and rear main seals. Others wont be affected really since regardless of how overfull the oil is, the pump still moves what it can. Now if the pump was trying to pull airated oil then the results would be similar to oil starvation. Could this be the source of your engine running rough? Yes and no. Extra work for the crankshaft to swim through the oil doesnt help, main consideration is the oil vapors in the intake from the venting system. The oil puddle you seen is the result of shutting down the engine and the oil suspended in the air dropping out of suspension. Just imagine how much was flowing through the intake runners and burning in the combustion chamber. Would make for a rich condition depending upon how much was getting through.

Nice... Truck stumbles like crap but I can race it up and get it to hold at higher RPM's which someone suggested might be a vacuum problem and the engine was overcoming it at the higher RPM's. Im tired of guessing and throwing more parts and $$ at this truck. Buildup in the intake? On a side note, I did pull the new PCV and black crap was built up in/on it.

That black crap would be engine oil, crusty and caked means it got hot...tends to happen with internal combustion engines though. Replace the PCV valve. If the engine cant vent the blowby gases then it'll stack up. Be like trying to breath in a cigar lounge after running a marathon. Not sure if the V6 has another vent hose like the 22R-Es have...but if there is another vent, be to your advantage to pull it and clean it out.
