Awhile ago I seen an extracab, with speakers under the rear seats of an extracab. I was wondering who did it and how? Did you take out the lids and custom fit them or what? Thanks!

I have seen guys who will fiberglass the bigger storage space and stuff a 10" sub in it. You would have to make an MDF plate to mount over the existing hole to fit the speake/sub into.

Yea that's my truck. Here are the pics a lil larger... I did this by taking the stock bottom plate out and making a new one out of ply wood that sits nicely like a shelf under the jumper seats. Then I built the box that you can see and installed it into the shelf. Then made the lid which I made mount the sub flush so that the seats can still fold down. Then added some spray on bedliner to the lid, put the sub in, and now your bumpin!

My buddy had an 89' Toy and he dremeled out a space below those storage compartments on that plate underneath the seats and mounted 6x9's. He put one of the amps for the 6x9's in that storage compartment on the drivers side. He had a 12 and wasn't concerned about space in his xtra cab so he just put the box on the passenger side and put the other amp in the other storage compartment.

that is an awesome idea, do you really need the plywood for a speaker box or could you just put some speaker insulation/dampening stuff in the existing compartment?

That's a fabulous idea too! What I was going to do is take the existing covers and cut out for speakers, and insulate the space under them. I don't want it to sound like "a speaker in a garbage can!" Thanks for all your replies! Great ideas!
