SAD NEWS, The rumor is true! Just got my order in and was told Tera MFG is discontinuing the manufacturing of Isuzu related gears. "T" case and "R&P's". So if you don't have yours and wanted them. There may not be any left. IIRC, Only 5 sets of "T" gears on the shelf and that's it. Uh, Make that 4 sets, I forgot to subtract mine. And very few of the LOW R&P's. I went ahead and bit the bullit and ordered me another set of those too. Just in case I break the first set. Since I tend to do that a lot (SPARES, don't ya know) (SO much for income tax return,, First time in years too!)
Reason: Not enough market support of the product, and at the rate they were selling those four sets of "T case" gears, they'd have lasted them years. SO much for you cry babies about how Isuzu after market sucks! It's really gonna suck now.
Oh well, I've got mine with spares too!!
CJ
p.s. Unsolicited product endorsement. Pilot Bob reports his Trooper can't be stopped since he put his Tera "T" and R&P gears in. I can't wait till I get mine installed. And yea we could all swap out axles and SAS the SH*T out of our rigs, but what fun would that be. Plus it's a lot of work!!!!!!!!
Thanks for Trying Tera MFG! I bought all I could afford N then some.
----------------------------------- I changed the title to reflect the new awareness -- Tera is **NOT** discontinuing at this time, nor are they out-of-stock. Curtis and others received bad information through good sources, and posted with the best of intentions. Isuzu products have been slow movers for them, so they may at some point make this decision, so I recommend that we all vote with our wallets to help them remember the profit motive of this market.

[Insert the 'Bawling-My-Eyes-Out' emoticon here]
In a recent conversation with Matt, I got the impression that there were more Tera T-Case Gears available than what youÆve just described.
True, they certainly havenÆt been flying off of the shelves, but I figured that they would still be available (for a while longer, at least).
This is heartbreaking news for me because there is simply no-way-in-#### that IÆll be able to get a set any time in the near futureà and from what youÆve just saidà the days appear to be numbered for the remaining limited supply.

SO much for you cry babies about how Isuzu after market sucks! It's really gonna suck now. Yup, this is definitely sad to see go... especially after Tera basically rolled the red carpet out and asked us to put our money where our mouths are. its sad we can't live up to it... all the more reason to be careful about how we persue relations with future aftermarket venders (ie, 12bolt locker thread)... you generally only get one chance to impress, after that, they'll move on. I'm glad i've got my set of Tera tcase gears. If i hadn't just purchased a house, i'd consider getting a set of R&P gears to have laying around, but its not an option for me right now. -Rob

I only have the Tcase gears, and all I can say is "whoa baby". Those things make a huge difference on the trail. The only *complaint* that I have is that with the automatic in the Amigo, the low range really likes to 'pull' the Amigo down hills. I find myself having to put it in neutral on some descents, just to keep from creeping too much. (hard to hold the brakes on ) I thank Tera for taking the initiative to put these parts out in the first place. I wish I could support them more, but that's not possible for all of us.

I asked how may were left because I was thinking of buying the remaining stock and hoarding them. Then selling them to only my friends at an overly inflated price and Rule the WORLD in a kinda Austin Power kinda mindset.

May still, dunno just yet. Melissa will probably kill me just knowing I bought a second set, so lets keep this to ourselves,,, OK??????

That is sad news. Makes me glad that I decided a couple of weeks ago to purchase the 5.38s. Hope I don't break them now since I won't have a may to replace them.

one of the problems i see is basic economics, you set the price to high and your not going to have any demand. the tcase gears are like $800ish for only a 3.07, true it would be cool to have, but i can't justify spending what i paid for my whole truck to go from 2.5ish? to 3.07 in the tcase. the toyota guys have 4.0, 4.7, and 5.0 avalible and they are much cheaper, around 4-500 i want to say. i hate to see them go because they were the best aftermarket company we had, but they've got to be realistic on the prices.

they've got to be realistic on the prices. I agree. I cannot justify this price with only 50% increase of the ratio (I have 2.05 stock). What they were thinking about ? Couple gears for $800 This is just a gear replacement kit, not a whole brand new T-case... Oleg

the toyota guys have 4.0, 4.7, and 5.0 avalible and they are much cheaper, around 4-500 i want to say. Trust me, i understand what you are saying Eric and why you are saying it, but the kit i believe is priced comparitively with other low range kits out there on the market. Tcase gears aren't cheap, no matter which case you got. The fact the kit is 3.07 and not 4.0-5.0 isn't Tera's fault, its Isuzu's. For anyone who has installed the kit before, they know there is absolutely no way to fit anything more into the case, its a marvel of engineering as it is with the 3.07 kit. Lower ratio means larger gear, which is just not possible inside the case. Same reason you have yet to see a low range kit for the NP205... it just don't fit, not their fault though, they gave us every last little drop the case design would allow. you won't ever see a lower range kit for the isuzu case, just not going to happen regardless of who makes it. and thats why its sad to see our only option leaving the market. -Rob

What they were thinking about ? again, to reiterate what i said about, what they were thinking was to give us the maximum amount of low range possible in the given constraints. as to the price, well, its comparitive to other 4:1 Jeep low range kits, etc. The price reflects the R&D and tooling costs to set something like this up. Cutting gears isn't something your back room shop can do. it takes expensive equipment, expensive tooling, and a good amount of time in research. the price reflects this, not the ratio. so keep in mind, when you are saying the increase isn't justifyable, you're basically saying the isuzu market can't support aftermarket tcase gears. ...off my soapbox now -Rob
