I just ordered a set from John but for my application ('96 Rodeo, MUA5 w/ fixed yoke - LOW307E) John said he had about a DOZEN sets left.

Great price too!! Thanks for the tip CK!!

Make that about 11

I have wanted these and with them going away and that price I just couldn't resist. Too bad I had to float it on the credit card though.

well, my dedication to Isuzu just go the better of me. Even though i hadn't planned on it, i ponyed up for a set of 10/12-bolt 5.38 gears. They'll probably sit for now, maybe to go in my girlfriend's Trooper RS, maybe to eventually sell, not sure, but didn't want to miss the oppritunity.

Of course, after i get back from placing this order, i catch the other thread talking about this may not be in fact the case... Tera discontinuing Isuzu products, which somewhat erks me.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
It's sad that we as Isuzu owner are limited in what is available to purchase in the way of after market products to make our rigs better. Losing any manufacture for after market parts will hurt in this area. But from the picture of various build-ups the Isuzu community will not give up. We have too many members of this board that think outside the box, and think, What if and not what is! Because the Isuzu axle is being used in various other vehicles older Jeeps and in some Nissan trucks and SUV's because they want disk breaks and the axle is the correct width and available at a reasonable price.

I purchased my Rodeo new in 94. I drove 3 other SUV's before I made my decision the 4 Runner, Pathfinder and the Chevrolet GMC mid size SUV. I choose the Rodeo because it had more towing capacity and horsepower than the 4 Runner and Pathfinder. It had less horse power than the GM products and the towing was about equal but it rode and drove better in my opinion. So I purchased a Rodeo.

When the board had groups buy on 5:38 gears. I purchased a set knowing that I didn't want to gear that low but I wanted to help ensure that we as owners had option for gears at a reasonable price to the dealer options. My set is sitting in the garage just aging gracefully in the original box, I received them back from Tera after the spacer was added. I did this as many others because we wanted to make sure we had the required quantity for manufacturing.

well let me join in on the party and let local crew (zutah wheelers) know, that I did talk to guys at Tera today, and they do price match, so I am also getting me a set tomorrow, the price is right and it will keep JR busy while he is replacing the clutch. I do believe that our clutch will thank us in many ways and also it is neccesary if I ever go SAS and tires 35" plus.

when Curtis called me with this it was the 1st i had heard of it...........which i felt was weird so yes i called TERA MFG. for clarification...........which originally i was told no one had heard of this.......and then after being on hold for a bit, was told yeah looks like that is true that it had been tabled as a possibility based on the rate the stuff has moved.....BUT, OF COURSE A DISCONTINUE (meaning "SOLD OUT" and deciding IF they wanted to make another stab at the product line) would occur at the point when current stock was sold. But, there was no time frame given or qty. on hand given.

well.................i called back yesterday to try and clear this up....because of the LOW stock numbers that were being thrown around. here is a summary of what i got out of my conversations with TERA MFG. Now.....I DO not work for TERA..........but i am a Distributor..............so this is my personal summary:

POINTS TO CONSIDER:

it is FALSE that the Isuzu Products are cancelled..........PERIOD. there is stock on the shelves at this time

it is true that maybe some internal "chatter" was accidentially relayed to the customer which inturn escalated into this rumor.

it is true that the gears will/would be cancelled if past performance (sales) is any indication of future results. Basically if it is going to be a REALLY slow burner then as stated before, maybe they will have to take a hard look at the business end of the product line.

it is true that there is a stock of gears on the shelf for each model # (exact numbers not disclosed, but the 25-50ish is close) Not exactly sure how many units moved of each over the past few days.

it is true that ***IF**** sales stay at the steady snails pace that they have been......then yes when this inventory is depleted there would probably not be another run.

it is true that if the demand is there and the market is pushing the manufacturer.......then the possibility to re-look at this product line is there as well. (menaing if guys are lined up to buy them when the inventory is depleted, why wouldn't the Mfg. think about continuing?)

[[[[ OK VENDOR HAT OFF...................................ENTHUSIAST HAT ON ]]]]

I think the biggest lesson here is that if you snooze you loose!!! you can't just take comfort in knowing that the products are out there you have to BUY.

if the community wants to continue to see SERIOUS product offerings like gear products, Lockers, conversion kits ...............WHATEVER

you have to scrape your pennies together and be one of the guys who buys and supports the Mfg's. that is the only way others will want to jump in. they will see a group looking to spend $$$ with notheing to spend it on. In business..........companies like to provide you with something to spend that $$$$ on.

again.......most Mfg. are not going to be a die hard isuzu enthusiast or owner......they just have the tooling or technology to bring a product to the market and are looking for aditional business opportunities based on the info that they are being handed.

so support these companies and show them that the manufacturing of isuzu parts is a good, PROFITABLE market to participate in

GIven number of units produced (sold or not), Tera priced their product reasonably. A custom product w/ high R&D, setup, and manufacturer costs is going to cost a bunch.

As a former binder guru. I can tell you that scouts can be as frustrating as Isuzus. Aftermarket can be fairly shallow. IH often stole the "wrong" part when it comes to aftermarket and offroad.

Thank god, I got mine from Independent 4x. Thanks MATT! That is really sad to see them go, guess I'm going to have to look at that toyota tranny a little sooner.

After all they did for us, this really hurts.

I'm going to personally thank Tera, the next time I see them too.

Again, I hate to see them go.

Hey Keith, have you seen the other thread that's going on around here about Tera not discontinuing the Isuzu line? It looks like the discontinuation is just a bad rumor. Several people have contacted Tera since this thread started and Tera said that no, the Isuzu line is not going to be discontinued yet.

I changed the title to reflect the new awareness -- Tera is **NOT** discontinuing at this time, nor are they out-of-stock.

Isuzu products have been slow movers for them, so they may at some point make this decision, so I recommend that we all vote with our wallets to help them remember the profit motive of this market.
