I installed a RS kit on a '94 pickup, just milled out the holes in the spring plate about 3/8" on each side to allow for the wider bolt spacing around the wider perch. Also saw another axle where the guy just used a grinder to notch the spring perch sides enougn to get the u-bolts in the narrow holes. Both ways work fine, I could mill the holes out on your plates or just have a set of proper width spring plates made in the first place:

I've made a few sets for folks. Either just the plates, to your specs, or including u-bolts (I use the Rancho bolts). Plates are 3/8" steel, bent up ends for stifness and a welded on 2" tall bump stop attachment bracket.

The spring plates run $40/pr. drilled to match you axle and u-bolts.

4crawler-how wide would you suggest making the plates? I was thinking of making mine 4 1/4" since that would give me about 1" from the hole edges to the edge of the plate.

I make mine 5" wide x 8" long, 1" bend on each end, so 6" long in contact with the spring. I do make mine for 5/8" u-bolts, holes are 3/4" for clearance, added to 2.5" wide spring perch gives 4" to the outside of the holes, 1/2" extra metal on each side is 5" wide.

can i take the trap off the spring when i do u bolt flip.i know the axle perch is wider but im thinkig it shouldnt affect anything taking it off.it doesnt really seem to serve much of a purpose being there that i can tell.
