I was talking to a honduh tech and the just evac the old r12 and put in the r134a. thats it. no new oil or anything. just swap it out. i dont think this is correct. been planning it on weak a/c on the 4runner(1stgen)

Only in LA that we think about ac in December....... I think some local shops can do the conversion for about 180.

that's great! pass the name of the place around so the rest of LA folks can do it too...

I got some stuff called freeze12 from kragen, it's an r12 replacement used just like 12, with no retro. It's not sold to the public though, I got it because my uncle owns a car lot here. 15$ to charge your unit though if you can get some.
91' 4runner, downey headers, downey 2.5 cat-back, intake.

When my compressor took a dump I did the conversion on my 90 4runner.... Total cost..85.00 and that included the compressor. The front seal was leaking on mine. got a low milage unit off a 98 4runner swapped the line cap and replaced the seal. put about 6oz of pag oil in the compressor bolted her up, pulled vacuum and charged it with 134. it blows far colder then the r12 that was in there.. the compressor is the same for both the r12 and the 134 systems they only changed the condenser.. but it blows 33 degrees at the vent without changing that in my black on grey baby. now my 4runner a/c blows colder then my 01 galant a/c.
